Signify is the fourth studio album by Porcupine Tree and was released in September 1996. It was the first Porcupine Tree album that frontman Steven Wilson recorded with the band from the beginning; the previous albums were essentially solo projects with occasional help from other musicians.

“Signify” was a bit strange in the way it was recorded, because even though it’s a band album, we could never all be in the same room at the same time for physical reasons. With the exception of one track, “Intermediate Jesus,” which was recorded outside, I tended to disassemble the tracks at a pretty high level, and they just replaced the parts I played on the synthesizers with the real tracks. So there wasn’t a lot of input from the other guys.” (Steven Wilson)
