In Germany, it initially only made the Top-40, but the singles West End Girls and Suburbia catapulted to #2 in the German singles charts. In total, Please has sold over three million copies to date. The album featured 10 songs in the original version, including the first single West End Girls, which went to #1 in the UK and US and went gold. in 1987, Please won the BRIT Award in the “Best Single” category and the Ivor Novello Award in the “Best International Hit” category. A little later, in 2005 to be exact, the jury of the British Academy Of Composers and Songwriters gave the song the Ivor Novello Award as “Song Of The Decade”.
