“Blast Tyrant” was a small comeback for CLUTCH after losing the major deal with Atlantic, after “Pure Rock Fury” [2001] had lived up to its name three years earlier. In the 54 minutes of the album there is not even a hint of boredom at any time, groove monsters like “Profits Of Doom”, “Army Of Bono”, the funky “Worm Drink”, which benefits especially from the variable organ of Neil Fallon, or the balladic “The Regulator” make sure of that. Every song on “Blast Tyrant” is a hit and a guarantor for good moods, although CLUTCH definitely don’t make music for “shiny happy people”… Let’s hope that CLUTCH will outgrow the insider tip status in Europe one day and can bring in decent sales [like in their home country]. There are only a few bands who would deserve it more.
