1968’s Super Session is one of the original groovy jam-rock statements, a spontaneous session that paired singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day in Mike Bloomfield and Stephen Stills. The material ranges from folk pop covers of Donovan and Dylan, to the blues “Albert’s Shuffle,” “You Don’t Love Me,” to heady jams “His Holy Modal Majesty” and big-band jazz “Harvey’s Tune.”
