Very few bands make it to their eleventh album. And even fewer make it with the same fire and fury that characterized their early years. But Machine Head is not just any band. For over three decades they have been the personification of determination, founder/vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn, Machine Head have led Machine Head down an uncompromising path – a path characterized by defiance, reinvention and a relentless pursuit of evolution.

in 2025, with “UNATØNED”, they have once again continued their sound in its most direct and impactful form to date. Determined to challenge himself, Flynn set strict songwriting parameters for “UNATØNED”: shorter, more focused songs with a distinctly American feel, unconventional key changes, and shifting structures that break expectations. This self-imposed restraint resulted in a lean, unrelenting album that shows Machine Head at their strongest. The album drips with melancholic melodies, but also hammers with pounding riffs, anthemic singalongs about lost love and sadness, to roaring power and undeniable confidence.

With “UNATØNED”, Machine Head prove once again that longevity in metal has nothing to do with comfort – it’s about taking risks, standing firm in your convictions, and refusing to stagnate. After eleven albums, they are still as fierce, relevant and unstoppable as ever.
