“Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player” is Elton John’s sixth studio album. It was originally released on January 26, 1973.

John composed all the tracks for the album in just two days and finally recorded them at the Château d’Hérouville studio near Paris, including the singles “Crocodile Rock” and “Daniel”.

“Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player” reached number one in the charts in both the UK and the USA.

Elton John celebrated his 70th birthday in March. 2017 also marks the 50th anniversary of his collaboration with songwriter Bernie Taupin. Two good reasons to reissue some of the British singer and composer’s classics on vinyl.

For the vinyl reissue, the album was remastered in 2017 from the original analog tapes by Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering) and cut by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios.
